In 2020, PROF, in partnership with our generous community members and sponsors, plans to award 21 scholarships totaling approximately $38,500 to Pine-Richland High School seniors. Each scholarship is sponsored by individuals and organizations that set their own unique criteria which PROF then administers to reach the largest number of potential candidates. The number of scholarships and award amounts vary from year to year, and some scholarship awards may be split among top applicants.
Applications for the class of 2020 will be available March 2, 2020 and will be due by March 30, 2020.

PROF Community Enrichment Scholarship - $5000
This essay-based scholarship is awarded to a graduating Pine-Richland senior who exemplifies the PROF mission statement: enriching and investing in the experiences of the Pine-Richland student community. Applicants submit an essay which addresses either how they have been enriched during their time at Pine-Richland through interaction with a faculty member or fellow student or through their experiences and interactions with a PROF-funded educational grant. This scholarship is funded by the Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund.
New in 2020! Ryan Malady Memorial Scholarship - Anticipated Award $2500
This scholarship is in memory of Ryan Malady who passed away in May, 2019. Ryan was a dedicated family man of great character who had a passion for helping others. This scholarship is sponsored by Ryan's family and friends and will be awarded to a PR senior who exemplifies some of the character traits that Ryan was so well known for: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. The applicant’s volunteer and community involvement will also be considered in determining the recipient of this scholarship.
Diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship - $1000
This scholarship is generously sponsored by the Hein family, who have three Pine-Richland High School graduates. The goal of this scholarship is to encourage underrepresented students to pursue a career in STEM and is thereby awarded to a graduating female or minority student who attended Pine-Richland for her/his entire junior and senior years. Applicants must plan to attend a 4-year college/university and pursue a major in one of the STEM fields. Applicant should demonstrate interest in one of these fields through her/his prior experience and interest as evidenced through high school classes, extracurricular pursuits, family background, or expressed excitement about a STEM profession. This scholarship is renewable for the student’s sophomore year of college, dependent on continued enrollment in STEM program and satisfactory academic achievement.
Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship - $2500
This CNC (Computer Numerical Control) technology scholarship(s) is awarded to a graduating senior who attended Pine-Richland for his/her entire junior and senior years. Applicants must plan to attend an institution of higher learning (college, university, technical school, or certification program) and pursue a major or concentration utilizing CNC technology. Fields/majors might include CNC machinist technology, robotics, or engineering. In addition, applicants must have taken a machine-based training course (on or off PRHS campus).
Good Shepherd Health & Sciences Scholarship & Internship - $1000
This scholarship is open to graduating Pine-Richland students who intend to earn a degree in veterinary science, vet technician, agriculture, environmental science or a medical field. A minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher in biology and chemistry is required. This scholarship includes a 10-40 hour summer internship opportunity and is awarded thanks to the generosity of Dr. Ibrahim and the Good Shepherd Veterinary Hospital. A team from the GSVH reviews and selects the recipient of this award.
Hance Elementary PTO - $500
This scholarship is sponsored by the Hance PTO and is awarded to a graduating senior who has attended Pine-Richland for grades K-12, starting at Hance Elementary School. A committee from the Hance Elementary PTO selects the recipient of this scholarship.
Kenneth M Young Public Safety Scholarship - $1000
This public service scholarship is in memory of Officer Kenneth M Young, a lifelong resident of Wexford and a 1976 graduate of Pine-Richland. Typical career paths include law enforcement, criminal justice, emergency medical technology, fire prevention and safety technology, public safety management government work, Peace Corps, public defender/district attorney, public policy. The scholarship sponsors will select the recipient of this scholarship from among eligible applicants.
Kyle Pomerleau Memorial Scholarship - Anticipate 2 scholarships at $1500 each
This kindness scholarship is awarded to a Pine-Richland senior who has participated in band and/or orchestra in grades 9-12, is a strong student, and demonstrates genuine goodwill and compassion to others in the classroom and school environment.
Monica Young Memorial Scholarship - $1000
This scholarship will be awarded to one or more graduating Pine-Richland students with learning disabilities who have an interest in furthering their education through a trade, technical or vocational school, university or college. The ideal candidate should demonstrate good academic effort, participate in activities during high school, exhibit a positive attitude, and have an identified longer term work goal.
Pasquinelli Scholarship - $1000
This leadership scholarship is awarded to a graduating Pine-Richland senior who has participated in at least three extracurricular activities, for a minimum of two years, during high school and possesses a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership qualities.
Pine-Richland High School PTO Scholarship - $1000
The “We Are PR” scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates excellent character and is resilient, hard-working and caring towards others. Special consideration is given to those applicants who are nominated by a teacher, administrator, coach or other individual and shows great promise for success. The PRHS PTO Scholarship Committee selects the recipient of this scholarship.
Pine-Richland Musical Booster Scholarships - 3 scholarships at $500 each
The Pine-Richland Musical Boosters is sponsoring three $500 scholarships. Each scholarship will recognize students who have demonstrated dedication, responsibility, and commitment in one of the following groups: Cast, Crew, and Pit Orchestra. The selected students are team players that others respect because of their commitment to the musical. A committee from the PRMB selects the recipient of this scholarship from among eligible applicants.
Richland Elementary PTO - $500
This scholarship is sponsored by the Richland PTO and is awarded to a graduating senior who has attended Pine-Richland for grades K-12, starting at Richland Elementary School. A committee from the Richland Elementary PTO selects the recipient of this scholarship.
Rich-Mar Rotary Club Scholarship - 3 scholarships totaling $5500 each in 2019
This service to others scholarship is awarded to a graduating Pine-Richland High School senior(s). The selection criteria includes an emphasis on a student's history of the Rotary ideal of “service above self” as demonstrated by their involvement in establishing and/or participating in organizations that serve the community and the world. The student's academic achievement and leadership are also evaluated. Finalists will be invited to a final interview. The Rich-Mar Rotary Club Scholarship Selection Committee selects the recipient(s) of this scholarship and award amounts vary.
Robert and Aileen Zollweg Scholarship - $7000
Thanks to the generosity of Robert and Aileen Zollweg, this financial need scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has attended Pine-Richland for grades 9-12. Applicants must share how this scholarship will help them afford/attend college. An interview may be required.
Veterans Memorial Scholarship in honor of Neil Riley & Michael Slebodnik - $1000
This veterans scholarship is in memory of two Richland High School graduates who lost their lives in service to our country: Neil Riley, class of 1964, and Michael Slebodnik, class of 1987. Neil was a member of the Marine Corps and was killed in Vietnam in September, 1966; Michael was a career long soldier and helicopter pilot, who was killed in combat in Afghanistan in September, 2008. Applicants must write an essay about what the sacrifice of these two service members means to them and how we can honor those who have fallen in service of our country.
Vitalant Blood Bank Scholarship - Awarded $3000 in 2019
The “Learning to Support Life” scholarship is awarded to a senior(s) who has donated blood, volunteered in the blood drive canteen or otherwise volunteered in efforts to recruit donors while also demonstrating a breadth of community service activity throughout their high school career. The scholarship amount is based on blood drive contributions from the community and may be awarded to more than one recipient.
Wexford Elementary PTO Scholarship - $1000
This scholarship is sponsored by the Wexford PTO and is awarded to a graduating senior who has attended Pine-Richland for grades K – 12, beginning at Wexford Elementary School. A committee from the Wexford Elementary PTO selects the recipient of this scholarship.
